Select license plates Life is a custom number plate available in 32 states in the United States that expresses pro-life messages. Dishes are the concept of Choose Life, Inc. , a pro-life advocacy group based in Ocala, Florida. The company was founded in 1997 by Randy Harris, a commissioner in Marion County, after he got the idea (when he saw the environmental plate in the car in front of him, stuck in traffic) to use a special number plate as a way to raise funds to promote adoption over abortion. The plates feature the phrase "Choose Life", a slogan used by the pro-life movement, and pictures of children resembling the art of two children.

History
In 1997, Choose Life, Inc. collected 10,000 signatures and US $ 30,000 required under Florida law at the time to apply for new special plates, and State Senator Tom Lee sponsored the bill to support the creation of the tag. The bill passed the two Florida Legislature houses in early 1998, but was vetoed by Governor Lawton Chiles, stating that number plates were not "the right forum for debate" on political issues. When campaigning for the governor later in 1998, Jeb Bush stated that, if elected, he would sign the Life Select Bill if approved by the legislature. Select Life, Inc. advanced with the application of the plate again, and, after passing both houses, Governor Bush signed it into law on June 8, 1999. Since then, Choose Life, Inc. has been actively helping groups in other countries pursuing the "Choose Living" number plate. On April 30, 2010, Choose Life, Inc. reported that Choosing a Living license plate has raised more than $ 12 million. On June 21, 2011, Florida Governor Rick Scott signed House Bill 501, which directs funds from a direct plate to Choose Life, Inc.
Choose Life, Inc. is a non-profit organization, funded by donations and sales of promotional items, such as T-shirts and ties. Special number plates can cost an additional $ 25- $ 70USD per year. The allocation of funds varies by country but funds usually go to the crisis centers of pregnancy, and organizations that provide delivery and adoption services, with funds explicitly denied to organizations offering abortion, counseling or referral services.

Starting September 2017, Select Life number plate is available in 32 countries:
The State where Select Life has been rejected
- Michigan: In 2017, Governor Rick Snyder vetoed the proposed lemping bill, citing "the potential to divide millions of Michiganders".
- New York: For several years, litigation took place between the Defense Fund Alliance and the Department of Motor Vehicles. The original decision not to offer special plates was denied, but the issuance of plates held back awaited an appeal in 2011. After further litigation, by 2015 NY's Department of Motor Vehicle policies to exclude controversial, politically sensitive messages from plates "reasonable and point of view neutral, which is all the necessary First Amendment "in the opinion of the majority of the 2nd Circuit. After the decision at Walker v. The Texas Division, Sons of Confederate Veterans, which gives the state the right to decide whatever speech they want or do not want on the plate issued by their country, no further appeal from the 2nd District decision is made by the ADF.
- Rhode Island: Governor Lincoln Chafee vetoed the bill proposing the plates, citing the inappropriateness of using state license plates to fund religious initiatives.
Other states
- In Montana, administrative issues since 2016 have prevented further publication of the "Select Life" plate until the problem is resolved.
Reactions and criticism
The license plate "Choose Life" has been criticized by pro-choice organizations, who argue that in authorizing them, but not offering plates that convey pro-choice messages at the same time, countries have discriminated against points of view. For this fee, Russ Amerling, publicity co-ordinator of Select Life, Inc., has replied that "[pro-choice groups] have the same right to get plates as we do, as long as they go through the same process we do and do not try to return to the states 'Select Living bill.' He also pointed out that no "[pro-choice group] ever applied for their own dishes in any state, until [pro-life group] applied for a plate" Select Life "."
Prior to June 2015, the US Supreme Court has not clearly spoken of the legality of the "Select Life" plates, and the federal circuit is divided over their legality. The 4th circuit has twice held that removing pro-life plates but not the pro-choice plates is the permissible discrimination point of view, but the 6th Circuit holds the reverse. The 2nd and 7th circuits have decided that countries can refrain from letting discussions about abortion on plates. When Walker v. The Texas Division, Sons of Confederate Veterans was inaugurated in June 2015, however, it allowed the state to determine whether it wanted controversial language on their plate or not, including pro-or anti-abortion language, which hindered further litigation in New York against having plates as has been decided a month earlier in District 2, or further litigation in North Carolina for the plates, where the interpretation of the 4th Circuit that it is the point of view of discrimination to have one and nothing else reversed in 2016 after a review requested by the Supreme Court in the light of Walker. Four countries currently offer license plates with pro-choice themes: Hawaii, Montana, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.
