Song pop, R & amp; B was written by Stuart Crichton, Carl Dimataga and Cassie Davis, with the latter also handling production with Stuart Crichton and Phil Tan. "Choose You" received positive reviews from music critics, who praised his taps and noted that it was radio-friendly. While working with Davis, Walker explains, "I just met Cassie [Davis] earlier at the Aria Awards and we managed to meet first, but I really did not know him very well I love that song when I first heard it, and I love it the way he wrote it - it sounds incredible.There's real magic for the song - it's an evil pop song mixed with a little old skool R & B. "Choose You" was sent to contemporary Australian hit radio on July 12, 2010. A week later, it became the fifth most-added song to Australian radio, and the second most-added song to New Zealand's radio.
The song was digitally released in Australia and New Zealand on July 20, 2010. Single Compact Disc was released in Australia on July 30, 2010, and featured remixes of songs and two bonus tracks. Scott Kara of The New Zealand Herald chose "Choose You" as one of the best songs From the Inside Out, cherishing the "big pop and stomp jump". Cameron Adams from The Daily Telegraph wrote that the song was radio-friendly and interesting. Drew Taylor of Warcry describes "Choose You" as "infectious song" and notes that he has "potential charts". On the New Zealand Singles Chart, "Choose You" debuted at number seven on July 26, 2010. The song peaked at number three on September 6, 2010, where it remained for five consecutive weeks. It is certified platinum by the New Zealand Recording Industry Association (RIANZ), to sell 15,000 copies. In Australia, "Choose You" debuted at number 33 on the ARIA Singles Chart on August 16, 2010, and peaked at number 16 on August 30th. It was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of Australia (ARIA), to sell 70,000 copies.
Music video
Released on 5 August, the music video for the song was directed by Marc Furmie, and filmed in Sydney. The plot shows Walker having to choose between his ex-girlfriend or his music career. It started with the packing and departure of Walker's partners, after which Walker recalled their relationship. On the way to a musical performance, he imagines his girlfriend with him. At the airport following the show, Walker turned and 'picked' his partner.
