Dating Sims , or romantic simulation games ( ???????????? < span>, ren'ai shimyur? shon g? mu ) , is a subgenre of simulated video game games, usually Japanese, with romantic elements. They are also sometimes incorporated into the category of neoromance. The most common goal of sim dating is up to now, usually choosing from among several characters, and for achieving romantic relationships.
The term "dating sim" is also often used incorrectly in English as a generic term for games driven by romance ( ????? , ren'ai game) , a subject stereotypically associated with the visual novel genre. This can cause confusion, since the visual novel is considered a subgenre of adventure games and is technically not included in the dating sim genre. While the two genres often share a common visual presentation, dating sims are sometimes perceived to be more statistically based than your own visual "take on adventure" style.
The technical definition of a romantic simulation game can involve some technical elements such as time limits, some statistics such as appearance and charm that can be enhanced through practice, or "tensile meter" that can increase or decrease depending on one's decisions.
