Season 1 and 2
The first season of the show aired in the summer of 2003. Rob Campos chose among sixteen suitors, unaware that every woman was told he would win a million dollars if he rejected Rob in the end. The election led to Erin Brodie and Paige Jones. The two women assumed that Erin would take the money and Paige would take Rob. But in an unexpected move, Rob chooses Erin, leaving Paige to tear the check. But, as expected, Erin rejects Rob and takes millions of dollars to help care for his ailing father, sending Rob back home. Paige's emotional appearance was then parodied in I Wanna Marry Ryan Banks and The Joe Schmoe Show 2 .
The second season aired immediately after the first. Erin returns home three weeks after he picks up a check for a million dollars. He returned to risk his millions of dollars by being in Rob's position, this time choosing between 15 male applicants. If the last man he chooses will choose him over a million dollars, his millions will double; otherwise, a million dollars (in essence) will be passed on to it, leaving it without anything. The men did not know that Erin had participated in a similar competition.
When he cuts his choice to just three, Rob returns as the "fourth man," returning to seduce him for the second time. It was not revealed to the original contestant that Erin and Rob had already participated in the competition version; Rob is implied to be Erin's ex-girlfriend. Though Rob manages to reach the last three suitors, Erin finally rejects him, leaving him to choose between Wade Whistler and Chad Viggiano. In the end, Erin chooses Chad, who chooses it. As a result, he won Chad and two million dollars, the $ 500,000 he gave to Chad. Chad and Erin finally disbanded, Erin will date LA based on Dr. Will Kirby and Chad are going out with a San Francisco model, Natasha Hahn.
Season 3 and 4
The third season, which aired in 2004, featured Preston Mercer choosing from among sixteen female applicants. Because the show was held and filmed after the first version of the series aired, a new twist was inserted: every woman was initially presented an empty check that she would have the option to finally choose over Preston. The ultraviolet light will reveal the check value, which will be one of the following:
- $ 1
- $ 50,000
- $ 100,000
- $ 250,000
- $ 500,000
- $ 1,000,000
Eventually, Preston was told that the show was actually For Love or Money and then, he showed the value of every woman's check while the women themselves at first remained unaware of their values. In addition, if the woman chosen Preston then chooses it instead, Preston will then have the option of choosing a one million dollar prize on it. The women did not know that Preston had received this information. Some female contestants eventually learn the values ââof their checks through the competition in the game. The last four women choose from four new checks with mystery values; two worth $ 1 and two worth $ 1 million.
In the end, Preston chose PJ Spillman over Rachel Veltri, who is considered a major antagonist of the season. PJ chose Preston, who revealed that he should also choose between love or money, and he chose PJ. Rachel ripped off a check for a million dollars while PJ did not learn in the show that the check was worth only a dollar.
In the fourth season, which airs soon after the third, Rachel returns home to compete for the one million dollars he will win. He was told that he would choose an applicant from among 15 men, and would then have the option of choosing a million-dollar prize over the applicant if he first picked it over a cash prize. Unbeknownst to him, the same offer was made for Andrea Langi, who also lost a million dollar check while wooing Preston, and who in turn was unaware of Rachel's presence in the new competition. The two women knew only that they were still competing with each other before meeting the male contestants.
Each of the fifteen were presented with checks in the same way as the women in season 3. However, the new change is that people immediately show their check values ââwhile Rachel and Andrea do not know the values ââor that people - people know them. The fifteen men were then introduced to the two women and had the opportunity to socialize with them for one night. The men were then ordered to choose one of two women to continue dating. Eight of the men approached Rachel, while only seven approached Andrea. Alternately, Andrea was consequently excluded from the show, like all the men who had chosen her. Rachel became the only bachelor and was left to choose from among eight men.
Similarly for season 3, the last four men choose from four mystery checks; again, two worth a dollar and two worth a million dollars. In the end, Rachel chose Caleb Janus instead of Mike Deatly. Caleb chose Rachel on his check and Rachel chose Caleb in return. Mike had to destroy the check on a dollar, while Caleb could forget the one dollar check and focus on Rachel, the two million-dollar check holders that had been wiped out. It was reported that Caleb and Rachel split up a month after the end of the show's production.
