Etimologi

The French word chartreuse means "charterhouse". The monasteries that the monks of the Carthusian Order (who began producing Chartreuse liqueur in 1764) lived in, first founded in 1082 by Saint Bruno, called charter homes because they were chartered - and given generous material support -by the Duke of Burgundy known as Philip the Bold when he took over the territory in 1378. The elaborately decorated Philip the Bold tomb was originally installed in a Carthusia charterhouse when he died in 1404.

The term chartreuse is defined by Oxford English Dictionary as: "Color shade, apple-green pale". The dictionary gives quotes in the English publication Western Daily Press (Dec. 26, 1884) Vol. 7 No. 5 as the earliest occurrence found in the printed term 'chartreuse' used as the color name. But the source does not define or describe the color in question.

In The Domestic Monthly (1885) it is written, "Pale green, smooth color, with a yellow tinge, titled 'Chartreuse,' is a rival for renewed green apples," and, "The new color of green Chartreuse, from light to dark, beautiful to big feather fans... Some of the woven silk has fancy lines in color combinations like... mousse and Chartreuse, which are stylish yellow green. "

In The 1888's The Ladies' Home Journal, written, "Chantilly's cloak came in an old-fashioned rotonde, with a narrow lace collar, and worn on a yellow green or yellow yellow layer."

In The Millinery Trade Review (1889) it was written, "From Madame Catlin of Paris, a green velvet hat moss with medium tones, or from a strong Chartreuse green."

In The Mineral Industry (1898) was written, "The distinctive twin colors of some double bias gems will prove to be interesting... green tourmaline (green green and bluish green).

In the Dry Goods Reporter (1905), recorded under "Choosing the Easter Hat" Ã, - "Green Chartreuse is one of the most difficult colors to combine artistically, but with the new popular bluet is dazzling."

In Pure Products (1910) was written, "The following colors can be bought in green... green."

In 1988, Margaret Walch, director of the United States Color Association reportedly said, "The hottest color out there now is a bad green color... It shows what we do not have: nature, youth, energy, growth."

Chartreuse yellow

The yellow color chart name , also known as traditional chartreuse or chartreuse , refers to a much less yellowish color of webreuse than the web the color "chartreuse" generally regarded as "chartreuse" in the United States (and still considered as so by many people in the country) before the color X11 (shown above) was formulated in 1987.

Before the X11 color was formulated in 1987, the term i-yellow was used to refer to the color that is now set as the web color chartreuse ( green chartreuse ) , shown above. Now, the term "yellow-green" is used to refer to this irregular medium color.

  • Yellow-green algae, also called xanthophytes , are the algae class in the Heterokontophyta division. Most live in fresh water, but some are found in marine and terrestrial habitats. They vary from one-celled flagellates to colonial shapes and simple filaments. Fire Brigade

  • Since about 1973, a kind of green fluorescent green lamp has been adopted as the color of fire engines in parts of the United States and elsewhere. The use of a chartreuse fire engine began when New York eye physician Stephen Solomon produced a study claiming that bright lime green paint would increase the visibility of night time emergency vehicles compared to that painted traditional red fire engines. The reason for this is the Purkinje Effect, that is, the cone does not work as efficiently in dim light, so the red object appears to be black. In Australia and New Zealand this form of yellow graph is also known as "ACT Yellow" because this is the color of a fire engine in the Australian Capital Territory.

Jazz/Jump Blues saxophonist, singer, and bandleader Louis Jordan recorded the song "(You Dyed Your Hair) Chartreuse" in 1950. Compiled by J. Leslie McFarland and Billy Moore, Jr., the song is about a the girl who colored her hair. "Chartreuse." Although he thinks the color is "very cute", the speaker says that color change is a silly act of rebellion.
  • The song in the Homestuck 'The Felt' album is named Chartreuse Rewind, referring to the colors associated with the album, the subject matter, and with the traditional color extensions of shades on the pool table.
