The LED stage lighting instrument is a stage lighting instrument that uses a light-emitting diode (LED) as a light source. The LED instrument is an alternative to traditional stage lighting instruments that use halogen lamps or high-intensity discharge lamps. Like other LED instruments, they have high light output with low power consumption.

LED stage lights are present in three main types. PAR cans, lines and type 'head moves'. In the LED PAR tin, a circular printed circuit board with installed LEDs is used in place of PAR lamps. However, most events use LEDs only for cycloramas lighting, or as upper, side or rear lights. They can also be used as 'audience blinders' (lights pointing directly at the audience from a low angle).
Benefits
The LED instrument can contain a number of different colored LEDs, often red, green and blue, and different colored light output can be achieved by adjusting the intensity of each LED color group. The LED instrument must have a longer lifetime relative to other options, without sacrificing color gel or replacement lamp.
LED instruments are increasingly used for live music events, especially festivals where they are more visible than conventional lighting in the sun. The LED instrument is clearly used for Live Earth festivals as it is considered more environmentally friendly as the equipment for the equipment they use is much less than any other lighting.
Another advantage of LED instruments is that they can be controlled directly using DMX and require no additional dimmers; the intensity of the LED is adjusted to the circuit on the board fixture. Due to low power consumption, some units can be daisy chained to a single power supply.
Due to the low heat output, LED instruments can be used in areas where the high number of conventional stage heatstocks being suspended will not be ideal. For this reason, LED instruments are used to reflect ice sculptures, especially when lit statues from within.
Disadvantages
The LED instrument can not be used to create hard-edged beams, which are necessary for gobos and other effects that require the use of ellipsoidal reflector beams, although LED fixtures are now made through the use of a small number of high output diodes now allow the rays to be focused to "hard edges" full of gobo effects/rays.
