Niche blogging is the act of creating a blog with the intention of using it to market to a particular niche. Niche blogs (also commonly referred to as "niche websites") may appeal to "geographic areas, special industries, ethnic or age groups, or certain other groups of people." While it can be said that every blog, in some form, niche blog, the term that applies to marketing refers to a particular type of blog.
Both blogging and niche marketing are new concepts. However, in just the last few years, the concept of niche blogs emerged.
Typically, niche blogs will contain affiliate links or similar ads (pay per click or product or both). In some cases, the purpose of a niche blog is to encourage the reader to visit another website that can then try to sell the reader of the product or service.
Niche blogging and splogging are often difficult to distinguish. However, niche blogging dependence on pay-per-click advertising and other revenue streams typically requires that the blog has valuable content related to their chosen niche, unlike splog.
