A resort (English North America) is an isolated, self-contained business establishment that tries to provide the most tourists, such as food, drink, lodging, sports, entertainment, and shopping on-site. The term resort can be used for hotel properties that provide various facilities, usually including entertainment and leisure activities. Hotels are often the main feature of a resort, such as the Grand Hotel in Mackinac Island, Michigan. Some resorts are also condominium complexes that are timeshares or owe the condos fractionally or wholly owned. A resort is not always a commercial enterprise operated by one company, but by the end of the 20th century, such facilities are becoming more common.

A destination resort is a resort that has the necessary guest attraction so that it does not need to be close to destinations (city, historic sites, amusement parks, or other) to attract its customers. A commercial company in a tourist destination such as a recreation area, a beautiful or historic site, a playground, game facility or other tourist attraction can compete with other businesses at the destination. As a result, the other quality of the resort destination is to offer food, drink, lodging, sports, entertainment, and shopping inside the facility so guests do not have to leave the facility during their stay. Generally, amenities are of a higher quality than expected if one is staying at the hotel or eating in a city restaurant. Some examples are Atlantis in the Bahamas; Walt Disney World Resort, near Orlando, Florida, United States; Costa do SauÃÆ'pe, Northeast Brazil; Laguna Phuket, Thailand; and Sun City, near Johannesburg, South Africa. Closely associated with the resort are conventions and large meeting sites. Generally, they occur in cities, where special meeting rooms, along with adequate accommodation and diverse dining and entertainment, are provided.

All-inclusive resort
All-inclusive resorts charge a fixed price that includes most or all items. At a minimum, the most inclusive resorts include lodging, unlimited food, drinks, sports activities, and entertainment at a fixed price. In recent years, the number of resorts in the United States that offer "all-inclusive" facilities has declined dramatically. In 1961, more than half offered such a plan, but in 2007, less than a tenth did so.
All-inclusive resorts are found in the Caribbean, especially in the Dominican Republic; in Egypt, and elsewhere. Notable examples are Club Med, Sandals Resorts, and Beaches Resorts
The well-equipped resort includes three meals each day, soft drinks, mostly alcoholic drinks, gratuities, and usually other services in the price. Many also offer sports and other activities included in the price as well. They are often in a warmer area. The all-inclusive model comes from the Club Med resort, founded by Belgian GÃÆ' Â © rard Blitz.
Some all-inclusive resorts are designed for a particular holiday interest. For example, certain resorts serve adults, and even more specialized properties only accept pairs. Other all-inclusive resorts are designed for families, with facilities like a craft center, a games room and a water park to keep children of all ages entertained. The all-inclusive resort is also a very popular location for destination weddings.
Recreation
The spa resort is a short-term residence/lodging facility with the primary goal of providing individualized services for spagues to develop healthy habits. Historically, many spas were developed in locations of natural hot springs or mineral water sources. Usually for more than seven days, the facility provides a comprehensive program that includes spa services, physical fitness activities, health education, healthy cuisine, and special interest programs.
A golf resort is a resort that caters specifically to golf sports, and they include access to one or more golfcourses and/or clubhouse. Golf resorts usually provide golf packages that provide visitors with all the green fees and baskets, balls, accommodation, and meals.
In North America, a ski resort in general is a destination resort in the ski area. The term is less likely to refer to a town or village.
Megaresort is a very large destination resort type, like the one along the Las Vegas Strip. In Singapore, the integrated resort is a euphemism for casino-based destination resorts.
The holiday village is a self-contained type of resort in Europe where accommodation is generally located in villas. The holiday camp, in the UK, refers to a resort that is accomodated in a chalet or static caravan.
There are over 1500 timeshare resorts in the United States operated by premier hospitality, timeshare-specific, or independent companies. They represent 198,000 residences and nearly 9 million owners, who pay an average of $ 880 per year in maintenance costs. A reported 16% of residences became vacation rentals.
The famous historic resort
- A famous historic resort of the ancient world is Baiae, a popular Italian resort over 2000 years ago. Capri, an island near Naples, Italy, has attracted visitors since Roman times.
- Another notable historic resort is Monte Ne, near Rogers, Arkansas, United States, active in the early 20th century. At its peak, more than 10,000 people per year visited the hotels. The two hotels, Missouri Row and Oklahoma Row, are the largest log buildings in the world. Monte Ne closed in the 1930s and eventually drowned under Beaver Lake in the 1960s.
- Tawawa House, also known as Tawawa Springs or Xenia Springs, inspired Dolen Perkins-Valdez to write her debut novel, Wench (2010), when she read it in W.E.B's autobiography. Dubois. The book mentions that the land for the University of Wilberforce was once used for a private property called Tawawa House, where the white slave owners would take the black slaves they kept as concubines.
Resort towns
Cities that are resorts or where tourism or vacations are a major part of local activities are sometimes called resort towns. If by the sea, they are called seaside resorts. Inland resorts include ski resorts, mountain resorts, and spa towns. The famous resort towns include. Banks in Nepal, Bali in Indonesia, Sochi in Russia, Mount Lebanon Tourism in Lebanon, Barizo in Spain, Cortina d'Ampezzo in Italy, Druskininkai in Lithuania, CancÃÆ'ºn in Mexico, Newport, Rhode Island, and Key West, Florida, in the United States, Ischgl in Austria, St. Moritz in Switzerland, Blackpool in the United Kingdom and Jabba Night in Pakistan.
The resort island is an island or archipelago containing resorts, hotels, restaurants, resorts, and amenities. Maldives is considered to have the best island resort, which has become famous amongst the top celebrities and sportsmen around the world.
A seaside resort located on the beach. In the United Kingdom, many seaside cities have switched to other entertainment industries, and some have plenty of nightlife. Theaters and theaters often remain host to numerous pubs, bars, restaurants and nightclubs. Most of their entertainment facilities serve locals, and the beaches are still popular during the summer months.
In Europe and North America, ski resorts are towns and villages in ski areas, with ski support services such as hotels and chalets, equipment rentals, ski schools and ski lifts to access the slopes.
Resorts for different purposes also exist. An example is Yulara, Northern Territory, which exists to serve Uluru (Ayres Rock) and Kata Tjuta (The Olgas) in Australia.
