A pension fund , also known as superannuation fund in some countries, is any plan, fund or scheme that provides a pension income.
Pension funds usually have large sums of money to invest and are the main investors in private and registered companies. They are very important for stock markets where large institutional investors dominate. The largest 300 pension fund collectively has assets of around $ 6 trillion. In January 2008, The Economist reported that Morgan Stanley estimates that pension funds worldwide have assets of more than 20 trillion US dollars, the largest for each category of investors ahead of mutual funds, insurance companies, currency reserves, the sovereign wealth of funds, hedge funds, or private equity.
The Federal Federal Guarantee Fund and Federal Survivors Fund is the largest public pension fund in the world that oversees $ 2,743 trillion in assets.

Public pension fund vs. private â ⬠<â â¬
Public pension funds are one that is regulated under public sector law while private pension funds are regulated under private sector law.
In certain countries the difference between public or government pension funds and private pension funds may be difficult to assess. In other countries, this distinction is made sharply in legislation, with very specific requirements for administration and investment. For example, local government bodies in the United States are subject to legislation authorized by the countries in which the location exists, and this law includes provisions such as defining permissible investment classes and minimum municipal obligations.

One is the state pension (Pilar I - Mandatory), the second is a mandatory private pension in which the state transfers a percentage of the contributions collected for public pensions, and the third is an optional private pension (Pillar III - Voluntary).
The Financial Supervisory Authority - Private Pension is responsible for the oversight and regulation of the private pension system.

The Social Security Institution was established by the Social Security Agency Act No: 5502 which was published in Official Gazette No: 26173 of 20.06.2006 and carried the Social Insurance Institution, Directorate General Ba? -kur and Direktorat General Emekli Pasir ?? ? whose historical development is summarized above under one roof to transfer five different pension regimes of public servants, paid contract workers, agricultural-paid workers, self-employed and self-employed farmers into a pension regime that would offer equal actuarial rights and obligations.
Private
OYAK (Ordu Yard? Mla? Ma Kurumu/Armed Forces Pension Fund) provides its members with an "additional pension allowance" other than the official pension fund, T.C.Emekli Sand ???/SSK, where they are mainly affiliated.
In addition to retirement benefits, OYAK also pays "disability benefits" to members in charge when they become partially or fully disabled and "death benefits" to the deceased member's heirs if death occurs as long as the member subscribes to the foundation.
OYAK is entered as a private entity under its own legal subject to the Turkish civil and commercial code. OYAK, while fulfilling its legal obligations, as provided in law, also provides its members with social services such as loans, home loans and retirement income systems.
The initial source of OYAK funds is a mandatory 10 percent levy on the basic salary of 200,000 employees serving Turkey, along with the current 25,000 retirees, who are members of OYAK.
